Drifting boats are the most commonly used means of transportation for sailing sailors. They are easy to maintain and can be deflated during long trips or simply stored on deck. However, even if they are easier to maintain than fiberglass boats, care needs to be taken to keep them in the best condition for as long as possible. If possible, wash the drifting boat with fresh water, and after use, remove the stuck sand and salt. It can be wiped with a damp cloth. If soap must be used, use mild dishwashing liquid.
When inflating a raft or drifting boat, fill each air chamber in a clockwise direction along the boat until it takes shape.
Know that air will expand and contract with heat. If the dinghy is inflated in cool air, the temperature will rise significantly. Be careful with knives or fishing hooks and any objects that may scratch the surface. When the boat is ashore, avoid dragging it onto reefs or shells. Friction is also a source of trouble for drifting boats. Regularly check whether there are friction points on the surface of the inflatable boat. This may be caused by repeated use of paddles at the same location or even on the cooler.
